Interested in planning for the future protection of our community?

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department is looking for a professional individual with a passion for protecting our community! The Public Health Planner position will perform professional public health planning work related to plan preparation, research, efficacy and implementation for assigned counties in Southwest Missouri. Planning efforts to include environmental health, community health, bioterrorism and emergency response planning, preparation and exercising. This position will also serve as a community liaison with multiple community partners.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience, Education, and Training

  • Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Emergency Response, Industrial Engineering, Biology, or related science field;

OR

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in a field related to the planning, development and organization of community resources to attain public health goals;

AND

  • Four years professional experience in public health, emergency response, planning, and analysis applicable to public health programs with a strong background and understanding of environmental health, bioterrorism, epidemiology, planning, data analysis and report writing;
  • A related Master's Degree can replace up to one year of experience.

Licensing/Certification

  • None required.

Responsibilities and Qualifications Assist in providing a reasonably safe and secure environment for the patients, visitors, and staff on the Maternal Child (5th) floor and the individual locked down units within which include Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (5-F NICU), Labor and Deliver (5-G L&D), Post Partum (5-A), and Newborn Nursery (5-J NBN), and Womens Surgery (5-B) when needed. Assistants work 8 1/2 hour shifts that are placed on a variable schedule. Shift duties include, but are not limited to: Manage access to the Maternal Child floor and the locked down units within by utilizing the Easy Lobby visitor management system; Writing detailed reports on significant events; Maintaining a high level of training; Have working knowledge and understanding of the operation of Easy Lobby visitor management system; multi line phone system; infant protection system (HUGs), video public safety system, door access system, and fire alarm protection system and how it functions; Assist Department of Family Services with child custody issues; Have a detailed understanding of Report Exec Reporting system. Technical training includes end user training on basic computer, video management system, door access system, infant and child protection system, report-dispatch system, and visitor management system. * Preferred Experience: 2 years' experience in customer service position.
