Public Health Nurse Zone 2 (Child Health Program Lead)

Position Information

New Hanover County is seeking a public health nurse program coordinator in clinic services responsible for overseeing the well-child health program. In addition to performing nursing duties in the public health clinic, this position performs professional work writing/updating policies and procedures; mentoring/training new staff; serving as the point of contact for staff; coordinating client referrals, conducting client record audits, and providing program reports. While this position will focus on the Child Health program, the selected candidate will be cross-trained to work in the Immunizations, Family Planning, and Child Health programs.

• Hours:

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM weekdays; must be flexible to work in evening clinics until 7:00 PM on Tuesdays. Must be available to work during emergency situations.

Compensation:

The hiring range for this position begins at$60,943plus a competitive benefits package. Salary will be determined based on qualifications. Current Zone 1 Public Health Nurses employed by New Hanover County will receive a 3% increase if selected for this position.

Bilingual candidates are eligible for a differential (5%) when performing Spanish language interpretation during the course of work.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license with eligibility to practice in NC

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or Associate's Degree in Nursing, or graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and 2 years of professional nursing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds of equipment.

• Must obtain certification as an Enhanced Role Nurse for child health within one year of employment.

Must become certified as an Enhanced Role Nurse within 2 years of appointment to the position.
