Washington County Department of Health and Human Services is hiring for a Variable Hour Public Health Nurse II position to join the Home Visiting Nurse Team within Maternal, Child, and Family (MCF) Program at Public Health Division.

About the Opportunity:

This position would be a part of the Family Connects Home Visiting Team, which provides home visiting services to families with newborns and young children in Washington County. This position partners with parents/caregivers of newborns to help problem solve, connect them with resources, help with breastfeeding, and provide education about childhood growth and development.

  • Variable hour positions are at-will (not part of the Oregon Nurse Association) and hours will vary from 0-20 hours per week depending on the program needs. These positions will accrue sick time, but are not eligible for vacation accrual, paid holiday, or other customary benefits such as health insurance including medical, dental, and vision.

The ideal candidate is passionate about working with new parents and their babies. They are comfortable working independently serving a variety of families throughout the county.

They also have experience working as a home visitor nurse for infants, children, and their families. Additionally, they have some knowledge of Washington County and the resources available in the community.

Education and Experience:

A candidate must meet one of the following criteria to be considered.

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of nursing;

OR

  • An Associate's Degree or Diploma in nursing, college-level coursework in the social sciences, and additional nursing training within a public health curriculum including completion of a Public Health Nursing Certificate program (or equivalent); AND two (2) years increasingly responsible experience in community or public health nursing or related settings.

Additional Licenses, Certificates, Physical Abilities and Specialty Requirements:

  • Possession of a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Oregon or ability to obtain license within 30 days of appointment.

  • A criminal background check is required post offer.

Selection Process

  • Panel Interview(s): Generally, the top 6 - 8 candidates will be invited to participate in a panel interview.

  • Conditional Offer: A successful candidate will require to successfully clear a third-party background check and driving record check as pre-employment conditions.
