Hours: 8:00 - 5:00 Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
The Public Health Nurse II provides nursing services in schools, clinics or other community service settings. Clinical work is performed under the regular supervision of the Clinical and Assistant Clinic Directors. Work involves contact with physicians, mid-level providers, WIC, lab staff and community agencies.
Primary Responsibilities:
Coordinate High Risk Maternity patients and Vasectomy programs
Interview Maternity & Family Planning patients
Administer DEPO shots, medications & immunizations
Perform NST's
Document in CureMD
Maternity & Family Planning triage
Assist with procedures
Education/Experience: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. degree in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation; or graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of public health and/or general nursing experience, women's health and /or labor and delivery experience preferred. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish preferred.
License: A valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. Current CPR certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of and skill in the application of nursing theory, practices, principles, and techniques employed in the field of public health
Considerable knowledge of and skill in obtaining a health history and performing physical examinations
Knowledge of current and social and economic problems relating to healthcare
Strong knowledge of available resources and organizations
Ability to plan, coordinate and supervise the work of others
Must be able to deal tactfully with others and to exercise good judgement in appraising situations and making decisions
Ability to secure the cooperation of clients, to elicit needed information and to maintain effective working relationships
Accurately record services rendered and to interpreter and explain records, reports and medical instruction
