Under the general direction of the Public Health Nurse (PHN) 4 Nurse Manager, this position is responsible for the delivery of the full range of public health nursing services to villages using an individual, community, and systems approach.

This position requires frequent travel within the State of Alaska (normally two trips a month).

Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Alaska;

AND

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university or Direct Entry Master of Science (MSN) in Nursing from an accredited college or university;

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

Successful performance of this work requires knowledge of principles and concepts of professional nursing, public and community health, and health care systems typically acquired through a course of study resulting in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). Continued employment and advancement from Public Health Nurse I to Public Health Nurse 2 is contingent upon maintaining active enrollment, in good academic standing, and successful completion of an accredited Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-to-BSN) bridge program within twenty-four months of initial hire, including time devoted to completing the enrollment process.

"Training" and "education" are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. Work as a crew member with 3-4 inventory technicians. The majority of the duties consist of field data collection activities.         MISSION AND CULTURE The mission of the Division of Forestry is to develop, conserve, and enhance Alaska's forests to provide a sustainable supply of forest resources for Alaskans. We are leaders in wildland fire management, forest management, forest practices, and cooperative forestry programs across the state. Our influence crosses ownership boundaries through the leadership of all-risk incident management teams, management of federal timber resources under the Good Neighbor Authority, inventory of statewide timber resources, and up-to-date best management practices that apply to all commercial forests.     THE BENEFITS OF JOINING OUR TEAM This position spends the majority of time in the field throughout the summer. Opportunities to visit various forest sites across the State, including Copper River Basin, Tok, and Kenai Peninsula. Potential of working on several inventory projects to expand knowledge and skills. The work schedule is mostly 8 days on and 6 days off, which allows plenty of time off to enjoy the Alaskan summer outside of work.     THE WORKING ENVIRONMENT YOU CAN EXPECT This position requires travel away from Fairbanks via the road system and camping for 8 days at a time. The position requires working long hours in the field. Travel mainly consist of highway vehicle, but may also include boat, ATV, helicopter and/or small fixed-wing aircraft.     WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR The knowledge, skills and abilities need to be successful in this position include * Extensive field experience in forest inventory * Physical and mental capability of working long hours in the field * Familiarity with forest health issues * Ability to work well in a team environment * Ability to follow directions but also work independently when necessary A high school diploma or the equivalent. OR: One year of experience performing a variety of office clerical assignments of average difficulty equivalent to an Administrative Clerk 2 with the State of Alaska. OR: One year of experience performing unskilled or entry level tasks in any phase of forestry or fish and wildlife work, routine field maintenance, or patrol duties assisting in the prevention of violations and the enforcement of laws and regulations concerning fish and wildlife protection. This work is equivalent to Forest Technician 1-2, Fish and Wildlife Technician 1-2, or Fish and Wildlife Aide with the State of Alaska. OR: Any combination of the above two substitutions totaling one year of experience. Special Note:  "High school diploma or the equivalent" is defined as any of the following: 1. Issuance of a high school diploma by a school district, including foreign high schools. 2. Issuance of a high school diploma by a state based on successful completion of a GED test. 3. Issuance of a high school diploma by the military based on satisfactory completion of a GED test. 4. Acceptance in full standing by an accredited college. 5.
