Starting Pay: $15.7621 Hourly

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Student working towards an Associate, Bachelor's and Master's degree in public health, health education, epidemiology, nursing or a related field -AND- minimum of 3.0 GPA.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess valid Michigan driver's license and vehicle available for use on county business.

Flexibility and willingness to work irregular hours on weekdays and weekends.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs broad health education functions in assigned areas of responsibility; works independently under public health supervisor; performs related duties as required.

STATEMENT OF TASKS:

• Collaborate with staff as an active member of the team;

• Assist in providing health education and resources to individuals of the community;

• Assist in collecting health information from community members;

• Participate in outreach events and build relationships with external partners;

• Research available public health data to assist with community health assessments and reports;

• Develop health education materials.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Basic knowledge of health promotion and/or public health;

• Strong written and verbal communication skills;

• Self-motivation and the ability to work under minimal supervision;

• Works well independently and as part of a team;

• Experienced in using Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook;

• Creativity in problem solving;

• Ability to work independently, collaboratively and respectfully in a complex, multicultural work environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion.
