The Community Care Plan 2024 Summer Internship program will run for 8 to 10 weeks. There will be two start dates May 13th or June 3rd.

Position Summary:

Community Care Plan is seeking a current Public Health (or related) student who can help advance CCP's public health initiatives. The Public Health Intern will work closely with the Community Health Department's leadership to design and implement CCP's Community Health initiatives including maternal-child health, health and wellness promotion and community outreach. Under limited supervision, the intern will use a basic knowledge of public health principles to analyze, develop, implement, and promote new and creative strategies and solutions to address these public health issues and challenges.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature reviews on existing disease-prevention, community-based programs.

  • Address Maternal-Child health outcome disparities, Diabetes Prevention and overall health and wellness by providing education, technical assistance, advocacy, public awareness, and research.

  • May assist in designing, developing, and conducting targeted training initiatives.

  • May collaborate with external organizations to develop action plans and goals to achieve specific objectives.

  • Assist in the coordination and logistics of community outreach events.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Work Schedule:

As a continued effort to provide a safe and productive work environment, Community Care Plan is currently following a hybrid work schedule. Staff are able to work from home 3 days a week and will report to the office 2 days a week.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The environment includes work inside/outside the office and travel to other offices, as well as domestic travel. Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Public Health or a related field from an accredited Florida college or university.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel and internet software.
