Under the general and direct supervision of the Project Director and Chair of the Division of Public Health and Community Dentistry, the Quality Improvement Specialists will support the UCLA Dental Transformation Initiative (DTI) Local Dental Pilot Project (LDPP) to implement new oral health services and practices into medical and dental workflows. A Quality Improvement Specialist acts as a trusted advisor to healthcare providers across the County of Los Angeles, helping providers adopt oral health best practices, comply with Federal and State regulations and improve outcomes. This position also requires the Quality Improvement Specialist to assist with recruitment of program participants.

The Quality Improvement Specialist (QIS) supports the UCLA DTI LDPP and is responsible for leading and facilitating quality improvement and safety initiatives as a content expert, performance improvement facilitator, and educator. The QIS position is a client-facing role, responsible for managing a large number of client relationships and keeping client projects on track. The QIS will effectively manage client communications and engagement, working directly with physicians, dentists, providers, clinical staff and office managers to implement quality improvement initiatives. The QIS incumbent will also be responsible for data and event monitoring, peer review coordination, facilitation of QI efforts utilizing improvement methodologies, and providing appropriate education to the provider teams. The Quality Improvement Specialist will promote the improvement of patient care and population health within clinics, by providing direct-to-provider technical assistance towards the achievement of clinical quality and process improvement goals and participation in quality reporting programs.
