Position Description

The Metro Nashville Public Health Department (MPHD) is seeking an individual with a passion for ensuring that persons incarcerated in Davidson County are provided the best possible health care. Be part of the exciting field of correctional health care by monitoring the program effectiveness and contract compliance of the private firm that provides health care services to those most in need. Health care services are based on recommendations from the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) and the American Corrections Association (ACA).

Typical Duties

  • Observes and documents the day-to-day administration of medical care and treatment provided by the private contractor and its nursing staff, including: Physical and mental health assessments.

  • Medication administration and monitoring.

  • Sick call - triage of inmate healthcare requests.

  • Care for individuals with chronic health conditions.

  • Performance in response to health emergencies within the facility.

  • Status and compliance with correctional staff health education requirements.

  • Monitors private contractor's performance and cooperation with correctional facilities' efforts to maintain American Corrections Association accreditation; monitors contractor's compliance with NCCHC/ACA requirements concerning all medical, mental and dental health care provided to inmates in custody.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited (4) four-year college or university and one (1) year of responsible, full-time employment in public administration, business administration, public health administration, public health sanitation, public health nursing, public health education, or other appropriate field


One (1) year of graduate study in public health administration, public administration, or health education may be substituted for one (1) year of experience


A minimum of seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience in the areas of public health administration, public administration, public health sanitation, or business

administration, of which at least one (1) year within the past three (3) years must have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity.

Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply, howeverat the present time MPHD isnot sponsoring individuals through any of the US Government's employment-based immigration programs.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Behavioral Health, Public Health or Criminal Justice related field (social work, psychology, counseling or related field).

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with three (3) years of experience in the practical application of public health, behavioral health, and community collaboration principles

Job Summary and Qualifications Supports IT&S Contracts and Technology Law Group by reviewing Novatus contract requests and creating appropriate workflows to coordinate IT&S legal review of contracts. This position supports the HCA enterprise, including all IT&S business units, and reports directly to the Manager - Contracts. RESPONSIBILITIES Review Novatus contract requests submitted to the IT&S Contracts group. Direct business owners as to required information in the event of an insufficient request. For sufficient requests, create appropriate workflows to begin contract review process. Update and groom the IT&S contract files, including corrections to legacy files, field updates, contract family mapping, and other required changes. Review of in-process IT&S contracts as assigned with a focus on templated or basic documents. Serve as point of contact for ad hoc business inquiries to the IT&S Legal and Contracts group regarding existing contract status, legal workflows and document repository navigation. Bachelor's degree preferred 1+ years of experience required This position requires sound judgment, high ethical standards and a strong attention to detail. Must be comfortable with Microsoft Office products and able to learn and utilize new technology resources as required.
