SALARY RANGE: $41,367.00 - 46,261.00 ANNUALLY

EDUCATION ACCREDITATION: Applicant's education must be obtained from an accredited institution.

Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.

ELIGIBILITY: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.

PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

A Public Building Maintenance Coordinator oversees the maintenance and operation of assigned public buildings. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.

Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek; some evening, weekend and holiday hours may be required for emergencies.

Work is performed in various locations inside and outside of the building where incumbents may be exposed to extremes of heat or cold, dust, noise and inclement weather. Work requires moderate physical exertion including some lifting, climbing, bending, stretching and stooping.

SELECTION PROCESS

All candidates indicating the minimum qualifications on their applications will be placed on the eligible list without further examination. The training and experience of each candidate will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

On or before the date of filing the application must:

EDUCATION: Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.

AND

EXPERIENCE: Have four years of experience in building maintenance and repair work.

NOTES (EQUIVALENCIES): Six months of additional building operations and maintenance experience may be substituted for each year of the high school or GED requirement.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, AND CERTIFICATIONS: Some positions in this class may require a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license, or an equivalent driver's license and eligibility to obtain a Baltimore City driver's permit.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of building maintenance and repair work.

  • Knowledge of the tools, materials and equipment used in painting, carpentry, masonry, plumbing or electrical work.

  • Ability to coordinate the maintenance and operations of assigned public building.

  • Ability to assign, review and give work direction to subordinates.

  • Ability to train subordinate personnel in building repair practices and techniques.

  • Ability to deal effectively with others.

EXAMINATION PROCESS:
