Marsh & McLennan Companies is seeking a Public Affairs Manager. The position is responsible for assisting with global Government Relations and Media Relations efforts for the world's leading professional services firm for risk, strategy and people.

The Manager supports the leadership of the Public Affairs department through a set of tasks that range from communications to advocacy to political compliance and administration. A particular focus of the role will be the execution of a social media engagement strategy in support of the Company's corporate communications, intellectual capital, and executive leadership positioning.

The position will help to curate the enterprise website, keeping content organized and fresh. The Manager will also support MMC's Global Risk Center and Operating Companies, helping to distribute publications through mmc.com and to key external stakeholders through a variety of platforms.

The Manager will support MMC's Directors of Government Relations as they advance the Company's interests. The role also encompasses management of MMC's political action committee, including filing reports as required by the Federal Election Compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a social media strategy in support of MMC's corporate communications effort.

  • Create and distribute the enterprise weekly Press Matters report. Assist with the management of the Daily Insights Report. Attend to other reports as may be required to manage the enterprise's intellectual capital.

  • Help to curate the enterprise website, mmc.com, to ensure the content is organized and fresh.

  • Support MMC's global Government Relations team as it advocates the Company's interests to policymakers and key stakeholders. Research and prepare brief analysis of issues as needed. Help to maintain engagement with key external stakeholders.

  • Maintain the enterprise's compliance with Federal Election Commission (FEC) campaign laws. Prepare and file reports in a timely and accurate manner to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), as required by federal law and in accordance with Marsh & McLennan Companies' internal controls. Coordinate with MMC's Legal Department to monitor the FEC for new commission guidance.

  • Assist with the processing of receipts, deposits, and disbursements of all MMC PAC funds in accordance with Federal Election Commission guidelines.

  • Assist with bi-weekly and monthly Media Relations and Government Relations conference calls, including preparing agendas, keeping minutes, compiling and distributing various reports to Directors as needed.

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree required; a degree in communications or public affairs is highly preferred

Experience:

  • Three years of relevant experience preferred; entry level considered

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Candidates must have strong project management skills, including great attention to detail, excellent writing ability, and a natural inclination for collaboration

Other requirements:

  • Knowledge of the professional services or insurance sector is also preferred
