Job Description:

The Department of Public Administration & Policy at the University at Albany's Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Public Policy beginning in Fall 2019 for one year with the possibility of a second. Candidates must be strongly committed to excellence in teaching, specifically in the areas of Microeconomics and Statistics.

We welcome applications from candidates interested in policy areas such as education, environment, health or economic affairs, as well as engagement in high-quality teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Other policy areas will also be considered. Applicants are expected to teach a 2-2 load: 2 sections of Master's-level Microeconomics, 1 section of Statistics (either Master's or undergraduate level), and an undergraduate Public Policy elective based on their teaching interests in agreement with the undergraduate program director.

Requirements:

  • *Candidates must have a Ph.D. from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized organization by the time of appointment. The successful candidate should have a doctorate in Public Administration, Public Policy, Public Affairs, or an allied field such as Economics.

  • Applicants must be willing to participate and collaborate in departmental activities involving graduate and undergraduate students.

  • Applicants must possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  • Applicants must address in their application their ability to work with culturally diverse populations.

  • Candidates who will have completed their Ph.D. by Spring 2019 will be considered.

The incumbent will assist with planning activities related to emergency preparedness as well as project development, implementation, and reporting and in collaboration with healthcare providers, NYSDOH staff, local health departments, and other agencies, related to communicable diseases such as measles, Zika virus, Legionella, Candida auris, and other emerging infectious disease threats within New York State. Specific duties include: Coordinate planning, training and implementation activities related to Point of Dispensing (POD) and the NYS Clinical Data Management System (CDMS); contribute to grant-related deliverables, guidance documented and training materials; and provide oversight, supervision, and guidance to staff.
