ABOUT THE POSITION This part-time position receives both routine and emergency calls from the public regarding animal control matters; relays such calls to an animal control officer via two-way radio.
Monitors the radio and maintains a written log on officer's activities and call status and disposition; calls for aid to local law enforcement agencies when appropriate.
Receives requests for information from the officers, researches ownership and other information as requested and provides such information to the officer.
Part-time employment will not lead to permanent employment.
Part-time hourly employees are used to fill positions normally less than 20 hours per week.
Part-time employees do not receive benefits.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from high school AND one (1) year of full-time experience in radio dispatching or switchboard operation.
Working Conditions: Work scheduled off-hours shifts.
Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation.
Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

It is the primary responsibility of the Maintenance Dispatcher/Fire Control to receive and delegate all incoming Engineering calls and work requests with a sense of urgency, respond to fire alarms, and act as a main communication center for Property operations. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Property policies, practices, and procedures. * Answer all incoming calls concerning maintenance and repairs needed on Property and at off-site locations. * Input call details into the computer tracking system. * Assign work and message calls to Engineering employees. * Respond to the life safety system and fire alarm panel, locate the area of alarm and dispatch it to Engineering personnel to take action. * Record all personnel call-ins for the department. * Maintain the dispatch log of all activities performed throughout the day, including an accurate account of time and activities in emergency situations. * Perform all other job related duties as requested. Required: * Minimum age of 21 years old. * At least 6 months of previous administrative experience. * At least 6 months of previous experience in high-end/high-volume customer service. * Previous experience with two-way radios and multi-line phones. * Excellent customer service skills. * Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts. * Professional appearance and demeanor. * Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays. * High school diploma or equivalent. * Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
