Position Summary: The Chemeketa Accelerated Pathways to Success (CAPS) Student Success Navigator assists targeted current and potential students in accessing Chemeketa programs and services including admissions, student academic and support services, college and community resources, and academic programs. Terms of Employment: * These are four (4) 100%, 12-month classified assignments of the B3 band and grade. * Upon hire, must pass security inquiry which may include criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered. * Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which will include evenings and/or weekends. * Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire * Must have and maintain valid driver's license or ability to obtain one withn 30 days * Requires travel within service district Salary Placement: * Initial salary placement will rarely extend beyond Step 3, $3,560.92/mo. Duties and Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coaching & Student Success * Provides coaching, mentoring, and intervention to current students identified as at-risk and refers them to appropriate services * Case manages targeted prospective and admitted students and supports them in the onboarding process including, admissions, placement, orientation, financial aid, and registration * Meets with and monitors progress of students on case load on a regular basis; develops appropriate action plans to support their educational and life goals * Conducts workshops for prospective and new students (and their families), including financial aid and college admissions * Arranges campus visits to four-year institutions for CAPS participants * Refers students to appropriate resources including student support services, academic advising, and financial aid; as well as faculty, counselors, and other college services Collaboration * Works directly with Admissions, Advising, College Access Programs, Financial Aid and other student services team members to facilitate the enrollment and retention of students requiring additional support * Collaborates with academic and support departments, as well as the college's network of community partners, to ensure students - especially those facing multiple barriers - are supported in achieving their academic goals * Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with community partners; has broad understanding of community resources for Latinx and low-income students including housing, financial assistance, and healthcare Program Support * Evaluates the unique needs of Latinx and low-income students, create strategies and explores options for resolution or support that may fall outside normal processes, practices or policies * Collects and enters data into appropriate database; creates, distributes and presents reports; analyzes student feedback and makes recommendations for improvements * Assists with Summer Bridge programming for students transitioning from high school or GED to college Institutional Expectations * Embraces diversity and actively collaborates effectively with a variety of students, staff and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds * Participates in recruitment and retention of students at an individual and institutional level in promotion of student success * Embraces, understands and uses appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions * Provides high quality, effective service to internal and external customers through continuous improvement and adoption of lean office practices Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree from an accredited institution with coursework in Social Sciences, Human Services, Human Development or related field * AND- Two years of experience providing services to low-income and/or Latino adult populations * AND- Demonstrated experience being culturally responsive * AND- Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish Core Competencies: * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Knowledge of community college systems and philosophy * Recognize when client/student referral is appropriate/necessary * Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population of student/clients * Work independently and as a team member * Knowledge and skill in the use of technology and student communication and information systems Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor degree from an accredited institution * Similarity in background to that of project participants * Experience providing support to at-risk students in a post-secondary setting Supplemental Information When applying for this posting, you will be required to attach one or more of the following electronic documents: * Cover Letter * Resume * Unofficial Transcripts- An electronic copy of your academic transcript(s) from an accredited institution must be attached with your application.
