Department Overview ITS Knowledge and Corporate Systems is a department within Information Technology Services that includes data warehousing, web services, corporate systems, the project management office and external services. The data warehouse group supports corporate-wide business intelligence needs. The web services group develops web applications as well as supporting the Children's internet and intranet sites. The corporate systems group develops and maintains PeopleSoft applications, including Finance, HR and Materials Management, and the Kronos application. The project management office provides direction and support for projects across Information Technology Services. Position Summary The role of the security architect is to develop and maintain the high-level security design plan for the overall logical and technical IT architecture. This individual will provide technical leadership and consulting on security technology across the organization, from strategic decision making down to the project planning level. The IT Architect will gain organizational commitment for all high-level security plans, and initiate and participate in projects to evaluate technologies and methods for implementing these plans. This position requires previous experience in related IT security fields. The responsibilities of this position include but not limited to: Securing enterprise information by determining security requirements; planning, implementing, and testing security systems; preparing security standards, policies, and procedures; mentoring team members across IT and the organization. The ideal candidate should be able to multitask and give equal attention to a variety of needs. A requirement for this candidate is to stay up to date with current vulnerabilities, attacks, and countermeasures. License/Certification/Registration required? No Education: * A bachelor's degree required with a preference in computer security, computer science, or a related field. Experience: * Technical or College degree desired. * 10 years related information security work experience. * Prior experience in Network Security, Network Hardware Configuration, Network Protocols, Networking Standards, Supervision, Conceptual security design, Decision Making, Information Security Policies. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Ensure complete understanding of a company's technology and information systems. * In depth understanding of HITRUST security framework. * Knowledge of HIPAA, PCI, Joint Commission and other industry information security compliance regulations. * Enhances security team accomplishments and competence by planning delivery of solutions; answering technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members; teaching improved processes; mentoring team members. * Provide technical supervision for (and guidance to) the security team. * Determines security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements; researching information security standards; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; studying architecture/platform; identifying gaps and preparing mitigation plans. * Plans security systems by evaluating network and security technologies; developing requirements for local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), routers, firewalls, and related security and network devices; designs public key infrastructures (PKIs), including use of certification authorities (CAs) and digital signatures as well as hardware and software; adhering to industry standards. * Implements security systems by specifying intrusion detection methodologies and equipment; directing equipment and software installation and calibration; preparing preventive and reactive measures; creating, transmitting, and maintaining keys; providing technical support; completing documentation. * Maintains security by monitoring and ensuring compliance to standards, policies, and procedures; conducting incident response analyses; developing and conducting training programs. * Upgrades security systems by monitoring security environment; identifying security gaps; evaluating and implementing enhancements. * Prepares system security reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends. * Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging security practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. * Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
