Overview

CENTERS is a management company that specializes in campus recreation. We partner with universities to manage their departments, facilities, finances, and deliver exceptional customer service. Since 1998, CENTERS remains the first and only mission centric organization committed to student development and departmental excellence on behalf of its clients. CENTERS is currently operating university campus recreation centers at ten site locations within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Safely instruct client through an effective personal training session at the Recreation Center.

  • Provide quality customer service to all clients and potential clients, regardless of fitness level, appearance, or otherwise.

  • Ensure client safety throughout the strength and cardiovascular areas

  • Communicate effectively with the supervisor through phone, email, or in person.

  • Enforce all program policies and procedures as it pertains to the personal training program.

  • Enforce all building policies and procedures and assist as needed during emergencies.

  • Attend all Personal Training and all-department staff meetings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

  • Possess current certification in one of the following, examples include, but not limited to: ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA; additional NCCA-accredited certifications are often acceptable and will be reviewed for consideration.

  • Leadership and supervisory abilities.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm.

  • Excellent organizational, and written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Knowledge of standard practices in recreational sports.

  • Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyles.

Competencies:

Technical Competencies

  • Proficiency with Fitness Assessment Equipment, including but not limited to: Blood Pressure, Height, Weight, Body Fat measurement with calipers, Waist to Hip Ratio, Cardiovascular Testing, Muscular Strength and Endurance Testing, and Flexibility Testing.

  • Proficient with Exercise Prescription and developing progressive workouts for clients.

Human Relations:

Internal contacts include staff at all levels. External contacts include external customers and vendors. Contact involves troubleshooting, informing, exchanging information, negotiating, making recommendations, and giving information or instructions.

Responsibilities * Safely instruct an effective, creative group fitness class at the Recreation Center. * Provide quality customer service to all participants in class, regardless of fitness level, appearance, or otherwise. * Communicate effectively with supervisor through phone, email, or in person. * Enforce all program policies and procedures as it pertains to the class. * Enforce all building policies and procedures and assist as needed during emergencies. * Attend all Group Fitness and all department staff meetings. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: * Possess current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications. * ACE, AFAA, ACSM; specialty certifications are required to teach specialty classes such as yoga, group cycling, pilates, etc. It is preferred that all candidates have a primary group exercise certification AND specialty cert. Exceptions will be on a case-by-case basis based on a variety of factors. * Leadership and supervisory abilities. * Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm. * Ability to work independently. * Knowledge of standard practices in recreational sports * Strong communication skills * Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyles.
