PT Instructional Assistant - Changes Program

At the present time, a vacancy for a part-time Instructional Assistant position exists within the Division of Student Services of the Chester County Intermediate Unit in the Changes Program located in West Chester, PA.

Summary of Program:

Changes is a licensed drug and alcohol treatment program that provides intensive outpatient and partial hospital level of intervention to adolescents. The school-based approach provides the academic, social, emotional and behavioral needs to students who are not succeeding in a traditional high school setting due to substance abuse. The goal of the program is to provide students with the skills to maintain sobriety, achieve academic success, succeed in the workplace, transition into the community and return to their regular school setting.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Associates degree or higher or completion of two years of post-secondary education or 48 credit hours from an accredited college or university preferred.

• Experience with a drug/alcohol population preferred

• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

• Current, within one year, police, child abuse & FBI Fingerprint clearances required.

• Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by the CCIU upon hire)

Duties & Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the classroom teacher with high school students who are in a non-traditional school setting, as well as support the clinical staff. Must have the ability to work independently and as a member of a team in an educational setting.

Hourly rate (2024-2025 School Year):

The IA pay scale is broken down below for you to reference.

• Step 2: 0 - 9 yrs experience = $18.35
• Step 3: 10 - 13 yrs experience = $20.16
• Step 4: 14 - 17 yrs experience = $21.97
• Step 5: 18 - - 25 yrs experience = $23.78
• *Bachelor's degree is equivalent to 9 yrs experience on the scale = Step 2: $18.35/hr.
• *Master's degree is equivalent to 15 yrs experience on the scale = Step 4: $21.97/hr.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday; 6.5 hours per day (.87 FTE); 185 days per year
