Food Service Assistant Supervisor

The Food Service Assistant Supervisor is the flex-force department leader-on-duty (LOD). The primary responsibility of the Food Service Assistant Supervisor is to ensure that all customer service standards are met and the department is appropriately prepared for the expected business volume. The LOD is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Food Service Department including front of house, bakery and kitchen production areas. This position will assist the Food Service managers with departmentally specific duties and objectives when needed. This position will also fulfill the responsibilities and duties of Food Service Area Coordinator as required.

This is a part-time, seasonal position located in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The company will not provide relocation assistance or other employment benefits for this position. This seasonal position has a limited number of weekday daytime shifts during non-peak seasons. This position requires evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts. This position has a starting pay rate of $13.00 per hour or more based on experience. Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends and holiday shifts, covering all operating hours. Summary of major duties:

  • Demonstrate and role model THC values, the Hershey's Chocolate World Leadership Pledge and the Hershey's Chocolate World Service Pledge

  • Uphold HCW's customer service expectations, monitor and adjust queuing and prepare the department appropriately for the expected business level

  • Facilitate employee training, including appropriate coaching and counseling where needed, to ensure employees can provide the best possible customer service

  • Facilitate employee rewards and recognition programs, taking the leadership role by demonstrating best practices

  • Effectively communicate to all employees, ensuring they are knowledgeable about promotions, marketing initiatives and special events that impact the team

  • Make certain that all work areas, display cases and public areas are clean and sanitary, food displays are fresh and attractive and appropriate signage is in place

  • Welcome and check-in employees at start of shift, ensure they are in proper uniform and make sure breaks are taken in accordance with HCW policy

  • Assisting with Food Service department scheduling and record attendance of Flex Force (FF) Employees

  • Ensure all employees work in compliance with food safety policies to ensure safe preparation and service of all food items. This includes ensuring all employees wear appropriate hair restraints, follow hand washing procedures and properly monitor and record temperatures.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age

  • Must maintain a neat appearance and meet the uniform standards

  • Must have the ability to react quickly to changing operational situations

  • Must function effectively as part of a team

  • Must be able to work at a fast pace and remain focused, accurate and efficient

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with guests and fellow coworkers

  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry 25-50 pounds

  • Must be able to walk or stand for 5-8 hours

  • This role will require bending, stooping, and twisting

  • This role requires repetitive motion of the hands, fingers, and wrists when operating the cash register and related food service tasks such as scooping ice cream for extended periods of time

  • Overhead lifting may be required

  • Must be able to operate a cash register

  • Must have basic math skills (add/subtract)

  • Customer service skills

  • Teamwork skills

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment

  • Problem solving skills

  • Leadership/ability to take initiative

  • General retail knowledge a plus

Minimum Education and Experience

Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred but not required. Associates or Bachelor's Degree in related field or certificate in hospitality/culinary/pastry arts preferred but not required.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience in customer service oriented environment, preferably in food service/restaurants or retail operations is required. Minimum of 2 years' experience in supervisory or leadership role is required.
