The City of Greenacres offers:

Minimum:  $17.81 per hour

Six (6) months of additional experience over minimum requirements:  $18.37 per hour

One (1) year of additional experience over minimum requirements:  $18.92 per hour

  • Must have graduated from an accredited high school or have obtained a State of Florida G.E.D. certificate or equivalent.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.

  • Must be of good moral character.

  • Must submit to a post-offer physical examination, drug screen and Level II fingerprinting. The offer of employment will be contingent on the results of testing and/or examinations.

Position Summary: Performs custodial and maintenance activities in, outside of and around city facilities, including performing minor painting and repairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (The duties listed are intended to serve as an example of the typical functions performed.  They are not exclusive or all-inclusive and will vary with assignments.)

  • Cleans public areas in city facilities including restrooms, kitchens, conference rooms, lobbies, offices, hallways, Council Chambers, and other areas.

  • Performs custodial duties at City Hall, Public Works, Fire Rescue, City parks and other City Facilities as requested.

  • Performs all phases of janitorial duties of all rooms and restrooms to include vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing of floors, and shampooing of carpeted areas.

  • Dusts and polishes furniture, equipment, artwork, fixtures, surfaces, walls, windowsills, trim, doors, door jams, kick plates, cabinets, vents, or other surfaces.

  • Cleans, deodorizes, and disinfects bathrooms and replenishes soap and paper products.

  • Touch up paint interior and exterior walls, bollard lights, and painted sidewalk.

  • Washes/cleans glass doors, windows, and blinds.

  • Empties and cleans trash containers; replaces trash liners in containers.

  • Maintains exterior areas around city facilities as needed, which may include sweeping mats, emptying ashtray pots, picking up and disposing of debris/litter.

  • Assists in maintaining security of facilities; locks and unlocks buildings, offices, and other areas.

  • Ensures cleanliness of grounds adjacent to building entrances and walkways.

  • Assists in set-up and break down for meetings, special functions, and city events.

  • Performs general manual tasks as needed, including but not limited to stacking/storing tables and chairs, moving furniture/equipment, and loading /unloading materials.

  • Performs basic maintenance tasks necessary to keep machinery, equipment, and tools in operable condition.

  • Assists in maintaining Safety Data Sheets and notebooks.

  • Reports supplies needed and any required repairs and/or safety hazards in facilities to supervisor.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of:

  • Custodial cleaning methods, chemicals, materials and equipment.

  • Minor office repairs and maintenance.

Ability to:

  • Pass FDLE and CJIS Security Clearance: As mandated by the FDLE, CJIS and PBSO, this position may be subject to additional security clearances due to access to the Sheriff's department facility.

  • Work 20-29 hours per week including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and city events, as needed.

  • Understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.

  • Read and comply with labels and safety warnings on cleaning agents and hazardous materials.

  • Estimate long-range requirements for custodial supplies, materials, and equipment.

  • Perform routine manual work.

  • Work independently.

  • Maintain professional and courteous demeanor.

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other city departments, peers, vendors, and general public.

  • Maintain high standards for professional and ethical conduct.

  • Support the City's Mission, Values, and Goals.

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.

  • One (1) year professional experience in institutional cleaning and facility maintenance.

  • Possess and maintains a valid Florida Driver's License.
