PT - AWC Campus Security Officer

AWC Campus Security Officer Salary: $15.00 per hour. Summary of Function:

This position provides security at the College or one of our extended campuses. Facilities, dormitories, sporting events, and special events by patrolling and observing the activities of persons in and around buildings and grounds. This involves assessing problem situations and exercising tact and judgment in resolving problems.

Typical Duties: Serves students. Responsible for the enforcement of security procedures and guidelines.

Presents a clean, neat, and orderly uniformed presence to deter criminal activity by patrolling or working at a stationary location. Ensures student and staff accessibility to college areas at the appropriately scheduled time. Responds to reports of disturbances or irregularities and notify Campus Police for a response.

Investigates safety hazards as reported. Creates concise and accurate incident reports and other written articles to document nightly activities. Assists Campus Police, Campus Life, and outside agencies as needed.

Aids motorists as required. Participates in educational programs and, orientations as needed. Provide assistance and/or directions to students and staff as needed.

Support and participate in strategic planning initiatives and performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent Preferred:

Part-time Up to 19.5 hours per week Days Evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of students and employees, Campus Police, and outside law enforcement agencies Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and determine if law enforcement is required Must be able to make important decisions based on procedure, guidelines, and knowledge without immediate supervisor input Ability to cope with situations firmly, courteously, tactfully, and with respect for the rights of others Requires keen observation and communication skills Work Environment: Outside, subject to hot weather Some high noise levels when at events Physical Demands:
