Description

This role plays a crucial part in supporting the healthy development of high-risk infants and providing valuable information to families and healthcare professionals for further care and intervention.

  • Assessment Administration: Administer standardized developmental assessments to high-risk children up to age 6, including those related to cognitive, language, motor, social, and emotional development.

  • Scoring and Interpretation: Score assessments accurately and interpret results to identify developmental delays or other areas of concern.

  • Clinical Observations: Observe infants during assessments and note any behavioral or emotional responses that may be relevant to their development.

  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports summarizing assessment results and findings for review by the clinical team.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the clinical team, including pediatricians, occupational therapists, and other specialists, to develop comprehensive care plans for infants.

  • Parent Education: Provide guidance and education to parents and caregivers about the assessment process, results, and recommendations for interventions or follow-up care.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, observations, and interactions with patients and families.

  • Ethics and Confidentiality: Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality of patient information in all interactions and documentation.

  • Professional Development: Stay current on developments in infant development and assessment practices through continuing education and professional growth opportunities. Works with manager to formulate plan for professional development. Attends educational in-services as appropriate. Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments. Staff Resource: Serves as a resource of advanced psychometric and cognitive rehabilitation procedural knowledge.

  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned/required by the clinic leadership including, participating in the achievement of organizational and departmental goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for assessing the developmental and psychological status of high-risk infants.

  • Conducts standardized assessments, observes behavior, and scores tests.

  • Works on a multidisciplinary team with healthcare professionals, social workers, rehabilitative therapists, and caregivers to ensure comprehensive care and support for the infants and their families.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in psychology, child development, or a related field from an accredited school or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Masters degree preferred.

  • Two years of related experience which includes administering and scoring standardized assessments for infants and young children.

  • Experience with measuring/ tracking clinical outcomes, experience in clinical research is a plus.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong observational and assessment skills, with the ability to interpret test results accurately.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with families and clinical team.

  • Familiarity with ethical guidelines and confidentiality requirements in psychological assessment.

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for managing timely documentation and records.

  • The ability to write a thorough report, detailing interpretation of test results and appropriate recommendations based on test findings.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
