The Big Country Educational Cooperative is searching for a full-time Itinerant School Psychologist for the 2024-25 school year. BCEC professionals work on regular school days, Monday through Thursday, with paid holidays and summers off. The BCEC provides special education services, including school psychological services, to students attending area rural schools. The successful candidate will work directly with children aged three years through high school, as needed. Travel is a necessary component of the position; thus, an unrestricted driver’s license and the ability to qualify for the cooperative’s fleet insurance are required. Salary is dependent upon experience and education as per the BCEC Board Approved Certified Staff Matrix.
The BCEC makes contributions to our employees' state TRS retirement accounts and provides a paid single health insurance policy that includes dental, disability/life insurance, and an annual vision exam.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Montana Office of Public Instruction Class 6 Educator License/Specialist Endorsement in School Psychology preferred, but a Class 5 candidate with exceptional qualities will be considered. Montana Office of Public Instruction Class 5 or 6 Educator License/Specialist Endorsement in School Psychology. Transcripts, current Montana teaching certificate with appropriate certification, background check, and immunization record with recent TB test will be required upon hire.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
School psychologists help students in the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral domains; they conduct student assessments and consult with educators, families, and other professionals to meet student needs in these domains.
The school psychologist:
Consults with educators and parents to plan and implement school interventions.
Demonstrates knowledge of research-based programs and interventions.
Evaluates students who are suspected of having a disability(ies).
Demonstrates competencies in utilizing a variety of assessment procedures.
Demonstrates ability to utilize computer software programs for assessment, reports, and record-keeping.
Demonstrates knowledge of federal/state disability laws and applied special education practices and procedures.
