California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is seeking committed professionals, like you, to join our dedicated team. Here, in a collaborative environment, you will apply your clinical knowledge and techniques to the assessment and treatment of mental and developmental disorders in our diverse adult patient population.

In this role, you will also conduct various forms of group and individual therapy; make recommendations on admission, transfer, parole, discharge, and therapeutic activities; select, administer, and interpret personality, intelligence, and other psychological tests; and consult with medical personnel regarding the findings of medical examinations.

VIEW JOBS 3/9/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-06-07T00:00 Department Name: California Correctional Health Care Services Region: Central California Time Base/FT/PT: Full Time Closing Date/FFD: Until Filled Recreation Therapist, CF $78,624 - $92,544 Annual Range Under general direction and within a correctional setting, Recreation Therapists lead, instruct, and encourage patients in a program of individual and group activities of a physical, social, and cultural nature; with the therapeutic team, plan treatment goals for specific patients; assist in coordinating recreation therapy with other therapeutic programs; observe patients' reactions and progress; record clinical notes to be included in medical files; and prepare reports. Recreation Therapists within our health care system must meet the professional codes noted below: Per Business and Professions Code Section 17505.2 (a)(1) and (a)(2): (a) It is unlawful for a person to represent himself or herself as a recreation therapist, to represent the services he or she performs as recreation therapy, or to use terms set forth in subdivision (c) in connection with his or her services, name, or place of business, unless he or she meets all of the following requirements: (1) Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a baccalaureate degree in recreation therapy or in recreation and leisure studies with a specialization in recreation therapy. Alternatively, a person who does not have one of the preceding degrees may qualify if he or she has a baccalaureate degree in a specialization acceptable for certification or eligible for certification by any accrediting body specified in paragraph (2). (2) Current certification or eligibility for certification as a recreation therapist by the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification or by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification, Inc.
