About This Role:

Counseling Services is looking for a Psychologist Training Director to join their team! The Psychologist Training Director provides leadership and team coordination for administrative and management responsibilities for the Internship and practicum training programs. Duties of this role include:

  • Implements the training program which includes scheduling and organizing seminars, designing and implementing the intern orientation program, assigning supervisors, and facilitating the evaluation of the doctoral psychology interns which adheres to the guidelines and standards determined by the accreditation organizations including APA and the Association of Professional and Postdoctoral Internship Centers (APPIC).

  • Prepares required documentation for regularly scheduled APA Accreditation site visits.

  • Organizes the procedure for the selection of psychology interns from a nationally qualified pool.

  • Represents the internship program at regional meetings, the national conference for coordinators of internship training (ACCTA), and ongoing correspondence with APPIC.

  • Provides short-term individual, couple, and group therapy.

  • Conducts initial assessments, intakes, and crisis sessions.

  • Provides psychological assessments.

  • Provides supervision and training for interns in our APA accredited internship consults with students, faculty, and staff regarding mental health issues.

  • Participates in outreach activities to the campus community and provides service to the campus community as requested by the Director or Lead Clinician.

  • Serves on the agency's administrative team to provide leadership for Counseling Services programs.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and three to five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology. 1 year of experience coordinating a program. 5 years of experience working at a university counseling center. A year of internship can be substituted for one year of experience.

  • Possession of a full license as a doctoral-level psychologist for 2 years. If not currently licensed in Kansas, has a 2 years license as a doctoral-level psychologist in another US state and meets eligibility for and plans to obtain a Kansas license for independent practice as a psychologist within a negotiable time frame.

  • Two years of demonstrated administrative, planning, and/or supervisory experience in a clinical setting.

  • Be a member of the American Psychological Association and familiar with APA doctoral internship accreditation procedures.

  • Be committed to a proactive student development perspective involving an active relationship with the campus community.

  • Be team-oriented, "user-friendly" to students and university staff.

  • Have the ability to handle spontaneous work demands while undertaking projects that require advance planning.

  • Possess a strong work ethic and a willingness to collaborate.

  • Be multi-culturally competent, possessing the ability and skills to work with diverse populations (ethnic, LGBTQ, gender, etc.).

  • Have strong "generalist" clinical skills in assessing and intervening with a wide range of disorders, concerns, and degrees of pathology in treatment utilizing a time-limited model of care.

  • Possess strong organizational skills and detail-oriented.

  • Be available and willing to attend occasional evening or weekend activities.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment

  • Licensed as a psychologist

Duties and Responsibilities: * Comply with the Community's personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures. * Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with respect and dignity. * Maintain the confidentiality of all resident and family information. * Review and monitor compliance with policies pertaining to total patient care, personnel, medical staff, financial status, public relations and maintenance of building under broad directives from the Governing Board.
