Through our dedicated, experienced and skilled clinicians, we provide patients and their families with the highest quality of personalized care. Programs are offered for children, adolescents and adults struggling with mental illness as well as offering services specializing in Anxiety, Eating Disorders, and Geriatric Service
Job Summary
The Department of Psychology at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital is pleased to announce a position opening for a Testing Psychologist in our Hartford location (on the Institute of Living campus). The clinical psychologist will join our team of dedicated and skilled psychologists and will provide assessment services to individuals within our outpatient clinic. Patients are referred internally and present with a number of different presenting problems. The ideal candidate will be adept at evaluating personality disorders, severe mental illness, and other psychiatric disorders (e.g., anxiety and depressive conditions). We are particularly interested in licensed psychologists who have prior experience assessing autism, specifically with the ADOS-2, performing risk assessments, and utilizing both projective and objective measures. The psychologist will gather all pertinent information, administer test batteries, analyze test data, document findings in a timely manner, and provide comprehensive feedback to all interested parties.
Supervision of students at all levels of training, particularly the internship level, will also be provided. As such, prior supervisory experience is required. Typically, the testing psychologist will supervise our intern cohort during their testing rotation (approximately 2 interns at one time). Our students will require supervision for both outpatient cases and inpatient cases. Additional supervisory opportunities with postdoctoral fellows and practicum students are available. Participation in departmental supervisory and teaching activities will be strongly encouraged.
Program Summary
The Psychology Department enjoys active involvement in the hospital's rich history of training and provision of exceptional care. Departmental psychologists participate in clinical care, research, training, and multidisciplinary collaboration at within the Institute of Living and other Behavioral Health Network entities.
Further, many of our departmental psychologists participate in the training and development of practicum students, pre-doctoral interns, and post-doctoral fellows through involvement in the Institute of Living's APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship. As such, the ideal candidate will have prior experience and a desire to participate in teaching activities and supervision of students at all levels of training.
The Psychology Department is a highly collaborative group of professionals. The Institute of Living has a deep commitment to research and education, as well as clinical care, and there are many opportunities to get involved in hospital-wide activities and initiatives.
