The Medstar National Rehabilitation Network (MNRN) has two openings for psychologists to work with patients presenting with pain management issues as well as a range of other medical rehabilitation conditions. One position will be located in the Washington, D.C. region and the other in Baltimore. Both positions may involve working out of more than one clinic setting. We have a broad range of referrals including involves individuals experiencing major pain issues, recovering from and living with medical conditions, and work-related injuries.The positions involve assessment, intervention/psychotherapy, and consultation. Applicants should have specialty training in pain management as well as broad experience in psychotherapy with medical and rehabilitation populations. A post-doctoral fellowship in pain, health, or rehabilitation psychology is desired, as well as a goal of pursuing board certification. The ability to communicate fluently in Spanish is desired but not required. Applicants must be comfortable working within a diverse cultural and interdisciplinary environment where a balance of autonomy and team work is important.The position requires a doctoral degree in psychology, APA or CPA accredited pre-doctoral internship, and eligibility for licensure in the District of Columbia or Maryland, depending on the location of the position. This incumbent will specialize in providing services to patients with chronic pain.Minimum QualificationsEducation/Training * Doctoral degree in clinical psychology (or closely related), APA-approved clinical psychology internship. Postdoctoral training in Rehabilitation, Pain, Behavioral Medicine or Health Psychology with special training in Pain *Experience * For hospital based positions without program development responsibilities, no experience required beyond fellowship. For positions in the network at satellite clinics 3-5 years experience preferred. *License/Certification/Registration * Licensure consistent with jurisdiction(s) in which incumbent will perform duties/provide services. Member of a professional association or society that has a professional Code of Ethics. For example, but not limited to: (American Psychological Association, The American Association of Black Psychologists). *Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesThis incumbent should have experience in evaluation, consultation, and psychotherapy, in accordance with APA Ethical Principles, regulations of the local jurisdiction, HIPAA guidelines, and MNRN regulations. This individual should have a familiarity in serving the patient population with chronic pain.Primary Duties and Responsibilities*
  • Provides direct psychodiagnostic and psychotherapeutic services to MNRN outpatients and inpatients. * Develops behavioral assessment, treatment, and remediation programs for MNRN patients, and implements such programs in collaboration with other disciplines. * Maintains documentation of services provided, in sufficient detail and at sufficient intervals to permit administrative and peer review, to permit audit of services against charges for services, and to meet documentation requirements of the MNRN and the Psychology Service. * Charges appropriately for all services provided and accurately fills out information required to create a bill. * Participates in development and implementation of goals and objectives for the consulted to program area as assigned by Service Director and or/applicable Assistant Director. * Meets productivity requirements as determined by Director. * Performs other duties and serves on committees as assigned by Service Director and or/applicable Assistant Director. * Practices in accordance with APA Ethical Principles, regulations of the local jurisdiction, HIPAA guidelines, and NRH regulations.
