Job Profile Summary
The Behavioral Medicine Coordinator (i) teaches and enhances resident interpersonal, communication, and counseling skills used with patients and their families; (ii) teaches residents to assess and treat patient psychiatric and substance disorders and psychosocial problems (behavioral, psychological, emotional, and interpersonal); (iii) provides support to residents and fosters resident personal and professional growth; and (iv) serves a range of administrative functions for the Residency program.
Responsibilities
Precept residents alongside faculty physicians to enhance attention to interpersonal and behavioral elements of patient care.
Meet individually with residents to discuss challenging patients and review videos of patient care encounters.
Present lectures and arrange guest speakers as the core of the behavioral medicine didactic curriculum for residents.
Facilitate monthly intern support group meetings.
Facilitate monthly patient-oriented discussion group with senior residents.
Coordinate, conduct, and analyze and disseminate data for required ACGME evaluations: (i) quarterly 360 evaluations of residents; (ii) quarterly resident self-evaluations; (iii) annual graduate surveys; and (iv) annual resident evaluations of faculty.
Organize residency retreats for residents and faculty physicians.
Attend faculty meetings and participate in ongoing evaluation of Program and residents, including resident remediation processes.
Serve as a facilitator between faculty and residents in addressing difficult situations.
Education and Experience
Doctorate in Psychology.
Certification/Licensure
Holds and maintains Psychologist license in the state of practice.
