This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, as well as retirement.

This position is responsible for a staff that includes Staff Psychologist II, Behavioral Treatment Technician, Correctional Psychological Services Coordinator, Social Worker II, Medical Records Assistant IV, and Processing Assistant III. Responsibilities include:

  • Daily clinical assessments, requires interaction, coordination and communication with Regional Mental Health Director and Regional Nursing Staff.

  • Management of all psychological services within the outpatient settings.

  • Ability to understand and accomplish the delivery of mental health services within the organizational framework of a 1000 bed close custody and a 252 bed minimum custody facility.

Note to Current State Employees: The Salary Grade for this position is MH20. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Qualified applicants must possess, and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:

  • Proven ability to work effectively with professionals from other disciplines.

  • Proven ability to understand and accomplish the delivery of mental health services.

  • Proven ability to supervision of direct subordinate staff.

  • Proven ability to manage a complex and diverse mental health programs

  • Proven ability to manage/supervise group and treatment team therapy for out-patient mental health.

  • Proven ability to interpret, compose and implement program procedures.

Management Preference

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology and

  • Two years of professional psychological experience.

  • Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina under provisions specified by the practicing psychologist act (G.S. 90-270.7).

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Psychology Practice Act (G.S. 90-270) and two years of professional psychological experience, one of which must be postdoctoral. Refer to the law for specifics regarding experience requirements.
