Psychological Associate: This position participates as a team member in the capacity of a mental health service provider. The Psychological Associate provides mental health services in treatment, evaluation, and team treatment planning for residents at SWC, and will provide leadership in applying professional mental health approaches. This includes providing consultation, evaluation, behavior support plan development, and training to staff regarding mental health treatment, evaluation, and diagnosis. The Psychological Associate functions as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.


  • Licensed: This position provides psychological services in treatment, evaluation, and team treatment planning and implementation for residents at SWC in the capacity of a psychologist. The Licensed Psychologist will provide leadership in applying professional mental health approaches at SWC. This position will provide consultation and training to SWC staff regarding resident treatment plans, evaluation, and program evaluation and participate in Psychology department activities such as student supervision, department meetings, teaching, peer review, quality assurance, and professional development conferences and committees, as requested. The Psychologist functions as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.

Special Notes:

All applicants who may be appointed will be required to allow DHS to conduct a security background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.


Minimally qualified applicants will have:

Psychological Associate:

  • Requires a Masters degree in Psychology (Clinical Psychology, Behavior Psychology, Forensic Psychology, etc.) or related field (Behavioral Disabilities, Social Work, etc.) from an accredited program. Note: a copy of your transcripts will be required prior to appointment to this position


  • Licensed:
  • Licensed to practice as a Psychologist in the State of Wisconsin or eligibility for licensure.

Eligible is defined as: you currently hold a licensure as a Psychologist in another state and are eligible for licensure in the State of Wisconsin or you have taken the Examination for the Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) and are awaiting results or you possess an American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) Diploma.

Note: Licensure must be attained within 6 months of employment.

Well-qualified applicant will have:

  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team

  • Experience completing behavioral assessments

  • Experience developing behavioral intervention treatment plans

  • Experience instructing others in diagnostic, therapeutic, counseling techniques

  • Experience providing guidance and consultation to clients, families, staff, and community agencies.

  • Knowledge and experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental health, and maladaptive behaviors.
