Job Summary

Reading Hospital is seeking an experienced and dedicated psychiatrist to lead our Psychiatry Residency Program. The Program Director will be responsible for overseeing the educational, clinical, and administrative components of the residency program, ensuring the highest standards of training and professional development for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Administration:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Psychiatry Residency Program.

  • Develop and implement educational policies and procedures in line with ACGME requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with all accreditation standards and maintain the program's accreditation status.

  • Manage and mentor faculty members involved in the residency program.

  • Serve as a liaison between the residents, faculty, and hospital administration.

Educational and Clinical Oversight:

  • Design, coordinate, and evaluate the curriculum to ensure a comprehensive training experience.

  • Facilitate didactic sessions, case conferences, journal clubs, and other educational activities.

  • Monitor resident progress through regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

  • Promote a culture of scholarly activity, encouraging resident participation in research and academic pursuits.

  • Ensure residents receive a diverse and well-rounded clinical experience.

Resident Recruitment and Support:

  • Lead the recruitment and selection process for new residents.

  • Provide guidance and support to residents, addressing their academic, professional, and personal needs.

  • Foster an inclusive and supportive training environment that promotes wellness and professional growth.

Program Development and Innovation:

  • Continuously assess and improve the residency program based on feedback and evolving best practices.

  • Develop and implement innovative educational tools and resources.

  • Participate in institutional and national committees related to graduate medical education.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.

  • Must be board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry.

  • A valid PA Medical License or the ability to obtain one is required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical psychiatry, with at least 3 years in a teaching or academic leadership role.

  • Experience as an assistant or associate training director or experience as a training director preferred, but not required.

  • Must be up to date with literature and clinically experienced in psychopharmacology.

  • Appreciates both the psychosocial and biological components of behavior and their contribution to behavioral and psychiatric disorders.

  • Research experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated commitment to resident education and training.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
