Medical Doctors Only Apply. Full-time position available in our 34-bed geriatric inpatient psychiatry unit at Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford, a full service community hospital8 miles north of Boston. The geriatric psychiatry program includes both open and secure units.

On-call coverage is optional. The adult geriatric unit is part of Hallmark Healths comprehensive behavioral health services that includes an adult unit at Melrose Wakefield Hospital, ECT and Community Counseling services in Malden and Medford. Hallmark Health is an established leader in providing state of the art geriatric psychiatry services in Massachusetts.

We offer a full range of treatment options to ensure that patients are matched with the appropriate level of care. Expert geriatric psychiatrists lead multidisciplinary teams that help patients reach their optimal level of functioning. Located at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, the Medical-Psychiatric program is the longest running program of its kind in the state of Massachusetts.

The Medical-Psychiatric inpatient unit specializes in providing evaluation and treatment of psychiatric disorders in the geriatric population, often complicated by acute/chronic medical problems. Common reasons for admission include late-life depression, psychosis, bipolar disorder, delirium and dementia-related behavioral disturbances. The program combines the expertise of psychiatrists, internists, psychiatric and medical nurses, social workers and occupational therapists to create a comprehensive treatment plan.

The team also utilizes the consultation of medical and surgical subspecialties, neurology, neuropsychology, physical therapy, speech therapy and nutrition. Our geriatric program often partners with our Center for Health Minds, a senior mental health and wellness service that help with the challenges of the aging process, including: Depression/sadness Memory loss/confusion Anxiety/stress Difficulty coping with illness/loss of independence Home/driving safety concern These challenges can interfere with the process of healthy aging.
