Description Exciting Psychiatry Leadership Opportunity at the New Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Center on the Lower East Side! The Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Center is seeking a dynamic leader for our recently expanded Ambulatory Behavioral Health Service at the new, state-of-the-art, community-oriented behavioral health center that includes integrated services for mental health, substance abuse, physical health, and social services located on the Lower East Side of New York City.

This newly constructed center represents the largest private investment in behavioral health in the history of New York State. As part of the Mount Sinai Health System's Psychiatry service line with faculty members from the Icahn School of Medicine, the Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Center serves as a major hub for clinical care, training, and research. The Department of Psychiatry is strongly committed to providing integrated, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities The Medical Director of Ambulatory Behavioral Health Services provides clinical and administrative leadership for the department's outpatient programs including the Integrated Outpatient Service (IOS), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Comprehensive Evaluation Service (CES), Partial Hospital Program (PHP), Assertive Community Treatment team (ACT), and Intensive Crisis Residence. This senior leadership role includes administrative, clinical, and teaching/supervision responsibilities.

The physician leader partners with nursing, department leadership, and multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality care focused on evidence-based practices, measurable outcomes, and the patient experience.

The Medical Director collaborates with the Vice Chair of Clinical Services and the Site Chair for clinical care and quality/safety initiatives. As a key member of the leadership team, the Medical Director of Ambulatory Behavioral Health Services cultivates positive relationships across the department and health system and is aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the MSBHC Department of Psychiatry, Mount Sinai Beth Israel, and the Mount Sinai Health System.

Stewardship and ongoing cultivation of a culture of respect and outstanding patient experience are central to performance in this position.

Administrative and clinical responsibilities include the following: Supervises the clinical leaders of the IOS, IOP, CES, PHP, ICR and ACT programs Develops new and expands ambulatory behavioral health services Develops and implements ambulatory behavioral health clinical practice guidelines, ensuring accurate and thorough documentation, and adjusting workflows to be more effective and efficient Ensures clinical coverage across ambulatory services in collaboration with program leaders Facilitates and collaborates in the recruitment of faculty and staff Manages clinical operations of ambulatory services in partnership with program leadership Assists in managing revenue cycle activities and productivity Interfaces with other services to ensure seamless patient care delivery and communication across providers Plans and facilitates regularly scheduled staff meetings; contributes to departmental grand rounds and other presentations and trainings Leads departmental quality and safety activities for ambulatory behavioral health including Justice Center and OMH incident reporting and investigative efforts, creation and completion of corrective action plans, and represents outpatient services at departmental IRC and QI meetings Provides departmental representation for hospital risk management Severe Adverse Events (SAE) including coordination of ambulatory behavioral health staff at required meetings Ensures regulatory compliance of ambulatory behavioral health services including continual accreditation readiness and OMH compliance Conducts Ambulatory Behavioral Health Faculty performance reviews and provides feedback to clinicians Contributes to psychiatry resident supervision Provides clinical coverage for ambulatory behavioral health services as needed Completes documentation in a timely manner and in compliance with departmental policies The Medical Director cultivates positive relationships across the department and with hospital leadership related to ambulatory care services patient flow, policies and procedures, risk management, and other collaborative efforts.
