Piedmont Geriatric Hospital is a 123-bed geropsychiatric hospital located in Nottoway County, Virginia. PGH is the only Virginia state facility that exclusively treats elderly persons aged 65 and over who are in need of inpatient treatment for mental illness. PGH is looking for full-time in-patient psychiatrists.

The successful candidate will have a high level of knowledge and skill in general psychiatry; ability to work cooperatively with other disciplines; interest in working with geriatric mental illnesses. The individual in this role will provide psychiatric care at the primary and secondary levels to patients, provide direct psychiatric interventions, follow-ups and consultations to patients on other designated units as requested. This position is also responsible for providing brief monthly psychiatric evaluations to patients scheduled for routine team review.

Minimum Qualifications

Unrestricted medical licensure by the Virginia Board of Medicine.

Board Certification preferred but board eligible accepted.

Medical degree and completion of an ACGME-approved residency training in Psychiatry.

Current DEA controlled Substance registration/licensed

Additional Considerations

Post-residency practice and medical training experience desirable but not mandatory.
