Overview

Ascension Saint Thomas Behavioral Health Hospital is a 90-bed hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, that provides age-appropriate inpatient programming for adults ages 18-64 and seniors age 65 and older who are struggling with behavioral health disorders.

We are looking for a Full Time Psychiatrist, with experience within the geriatric population

Overview:

Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy), psychoanalysis, hospitalization and/or medication.

Responsibilities

Summary:

• Responsible for providing clinical services to patients at the facility.

• Practice within medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations, as well as by corporate, facility policy or procedures.

• Review medical information on patients to ensure medical stability and to offer medical recommendations.

• Evaluate patients for mental, emotional or behavioral disorders.

• Treat or direct treatment of patients, utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.

• Review and complete medical information for individual care plans, documents services and information in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO) required.

• One or more years' post graduate degree practice preferred.

• Licensed in the the state in which the facility(s) operate.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Board certification in psychiatry

• Experience working within the geriatric population, board certification not required

• Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions and per regulation within the state in which the practitioner will be working.
