Responsibilities

As a member of the health care team your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Function as a physician member of a multidisciplinary Behavioral Health Integrative Program team.
Conduct psychiatric evaluations, develops treatment plans, implements treatment, and provides clinical management for substance use disorders and a variety of complex comorbid mental health conditions including PTSD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and other related conditions.
Provide some services to outlying clinics using telemental health.
Actively collaborate with mental health specialists and care managers providing mental health evaluations, clinician education, and decision support, and evidence-based psychopharmacology.
Provide outpatient evaluations, attending notes, and curbside consultations.
Knowledgeable in psychopharmacology and various psychotherapy techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, insight-oriented methods, family therapy, relaxation training and mindfulness cognitive therapy.
Participate in quality of care and peer review activities.
Document clinical treatment and management in electronic medical records. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Share on-call and may work some evening hours on the weekend/weekdays.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

United States Citizenship.
Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:
Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted, or
Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) of the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.
For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, facility officials must verify with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) that the applicant has met requirements for certification, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate, if claimed by the applicant.
Licensure. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Residency. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
English Language Proficiency. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Physical requirements. Outlined below. Preferred Experience: Demonstrated experience with interdisciplinary teams and coordination AND educating and training clinicians.

Must be in overall good health, able to sit at a desk working at a computer, engage in light to moderate physical activity including sitting, walking, bending, and carrying supplies.

Perform primarily light and sedentary duties with occasionally moderate physical demands, exercise patience, and control emotions without endangering the health and safety of the applicant or others. This position also requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
