What We Do:

OhioMHAS operates regional psychiatric hospitals in six locations across the state that operate 365/24/7. Our specialized facilities provide short-term, intensive treatment to patients in both inpatient and community-supported environments. We also deliver comprehensive care to patients committed through the criminal justice system.

Salary Information:

$39.27 - $56.10

Work Hours:

11:00 pm - 7:30 am M-F (Rotating Weekends & Holidays; Flex as needed to meet operational needs)

What You'll Do:

Coordinates & supervises activities of Nursing personnel on general &/or specialized units, implementing the philosophy & objectives of nursing services: supervises personnel in the implementation of nursing process; monitors effectiveness of nursing activities on shift to ensure substantial compliance with ANA, The Joint Commission (TJC), & HCFA Standards reflecting high quality patient care; monitors adherence to hospital policies & procedures; completes performance evaluations for Psych/DD Nurses (RN), LPNs & TPWs; collaborates with Clinical Area Supervisor to collect QA data & assists in trend analysis & develops plans of correction; monitors patient outcomes & progress toward identified goals; monitors documentation to ensure timeliness & comprehensiveness; reviews unit reports & confers with assigned personnel to elicit information regarding condition of patients; identifies safety concerns; resolves issues as they arise; counsels & advises & assists RNs & LPNs in administrative of new or unusual procedures; delegates admission of new patients; coordinates daily assignments for professional nursing personnel for coverage & medication administration; completes RN schedules; approves/disapproves leave requests & overtime slips. Attends meetings & committees to improve the quality of nursing services: plans & documents minutes of regular ongoing meetings with RNs/LPNs/TPWs; attends mandatory intra & interdepartmental meetings, conferences, & task forces; develops nursing policies & procedures.

Performs other nursing/supervision duties as needed or assigned: makes clinical determinations on daily staffing levels for assigned & oncoming shifts; makes final determinations about emergency reassignments & overtime; completes investigations related to improving nursing care; maintains professional competency & State of Ohio RN license; complies with mandated training; attends continuing education, both internal & external to NBH to enhance management skills; utilize OhioMHAS approved office productivity software intra & Internet resources & information systems in an appropriate work related manner as specified in the NBH Personal Computer Usage Guidelines for Employees.

Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code; 24 mos. exp. in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in employee training & development; 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in public relations; 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in counseling.

  • Or equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience requirements, but not for the mandated licensure.
