  • 40 HOURS PER PAY PERIOD.Under the supervision of providers, leadership or RNs, the Psychiatric Technician performs various duties to assist in the treatment and care of psychiatric patients in accordance with the established methods and procedures of Psychiatric Services Inpatient Unit and Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Minimum Work Experience

  • Health or mental health care experience preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Certificate in mental health technology or related field, such as licensed nursing assistant preferred.
  • BLS Certification through American Heart Association*
  • CPI Certification*
  • required within 1 month of hire

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and observation skills.

  • Ability to report patient care observations, deviations from patient's plan of care and other pertinent information under direct supervision.

  • Ability to remain calm and think and act effectively in high stress situations.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated moderate knowledge of basic computer skills.

  • Successful completion of functional testing for physical requirements prior to hire.

This role assists in the coordination of daily activities and scheduling of a team of psych technicians to assure appropriate level of staff coverage in conjunction with inpatient volumes and need. Supports and assists with educational initiatives to satisfy training and current skill level needs of all technicians. Minimum Education * High School Diploma or equivalent. * Bachelors in Psychology or Social Work or equivalent experience. Minimum Work Experience * 2 years of mental health care experience with degree. * 5 years of mental health care experience without degree. * Leadership experience preferred. Required Licenses/Certifications * CPI Certification * BLS Certification through American Heart Association Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities * Excellent interpersonal and observation skills * Ability to prioritize staffing needs and coordinate schedules * Ability to be organized and respond immediately to unplanned staffing needs * Ability to coordinate and participate in training and education in collaboration with educator. * Ability to report and accurately document patient care observations, deviations from patient's plan of care and other pertinent information. * Ability to remain calm and think and act effectively in high stress situations. * Ability to lead and offer guidance to fellow team members. * Superior communication skills (written and verbal) in order to effectively relay information both up and down the chain of command. * Demonstrated strong knowledge of basic computer skills.
