The Psychiatric Nursing Assistant IV performs the most difficult and complex paraprofessional nursing duties in the care, treatment and rehabilitation of mental health patients in addition to leading, training, and providing recommendations to supervisor regarding the Psychiatric Nursing Assistants (PNAs) of lower classification.
This position will:
1.Leads staff to safely assist and monitor patients through the evaluation and admission process to include searching and accurately documenting patient property and valuables and securing contraband and restricted items
2.Assisting patients in accomplishing their activities of daily living skills (ADL's).
3.Demonstrates and directs others in intervening appropriately (non-verbally, verbally and physically) in dealing with patients who may harm themselves or others.
4.Observe and document patient behavior accurately in an Electronic Health Record (EHR).
5.Leads staff and patients in maintaining an orderly therapeutic environment.

The selected candidates will work with a collaborative team in a fast paced, busy and challenging psychiatric hospital environment that provides emergency and court-ordered inpatient psychiatric nursing care in a safe environment using culturally-sensitive, effective, person-centered treatment.
This position is located at: 3700 Piper Street in the U-MED district of east Anchorage which offers several maintained walking trails, parks and nearby lakes. This area is filled with several restaurants, shopping stores, and has easy access to public transportation.

Three years of experience directly working with and providing paraprofessional aide, treatment, and/or rehabilitation services to patients or clients who have been diagnosed with or experience mental illness, behavioral or cognitive disorders, and/or addiction as part of assisted living, independent living, or treatment services, home, or facility setting.
Post-secondary education in psychology, sociology, mental health, and/or chemical dependency may substitute for up to twelve months of the requisite experience (2.67 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).
Some positions may require the successful applicant to pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, as a prerequisite to employment. These requirements will be indicated at the time of recruitment.
