Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to support Psychiatrist in managing care for adolescent and adult patients. This position is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge. Knowledge of in-patient psychiatric treatment including medications and treatment options.
Knowledge of statutes and rules governing advance practice nursing in MS and ability to function within legal boundaries.
Maintain knowledge of current skills in the advanced practice nursing field.
Skill in assessing patients at an advanced level, identifying health status including abnormal conditions, establishing a diagnosis, and developing and implementing treatment plans.
Skill in recognizing personal and professional limitations of knowledge and experience including planning for situations beyond specialized expertise and collaborating with or referring patients to other health care providers as appropriate.
Ability to complete work in an organized and timely manner
Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of hospital staff.
Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team to enhance patient care.
Available "on call" some week nights and weekends.
Current Mississippi Nurse Practitioner License with specialty in psychiatry.
Has completed the 720 hours monitored practice requirement
The APRN has requested Mississippi Board of Nursing Controlled Substance Prescriptive Authority*;
The APRN has registered with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA);
The APRN has received a Uniform Controlled Substances Registration Certificate from the DEA.
