Coker University's College of Health Professions is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Program Coordinator beginning Fall, 2024. This position is a clinical position with a competitive salary and benefits and reports to the Dean of Health Professions. This is a unique opportunity to combine clinical practice with development of a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) program. Emphasis will be on creating a student-focused program that imbeds a holistic approach to care and is grounded in an understanding of adverse childhood experiences.

Required qualifications:

  • Earned master's degree or higher in nursing.

  • Strong clinical background as a PMHNP.

  • Licensed (or eligible) to practice nursing in South Carolina.

  • Successful teaching and leadership experience in a nursing education program preferred.

Responsibilities:

During the first year, 50% of time in this position will be in clinical practice with Child and Family Resources. The other 50% of time will be spent with Coker University developing courses, policies, and procedures needed for opening the PMHNP program in August of 2024.

Details include:

  • Working with program directors and clinical coordinators to identify the types of clinical experiences and sites needed for optimal clinical education of students.

  • Participating in the development of academic policies affecting the admission, progression, graduation, and dismissal of students.

  • Participating in the evaluation and ongoing enhancement of nursing curricula.

  • Applying evidence from best education practices to student success initiatives.

Additional service responsibilities for the discipline, institution, community and profession include:

  • Participate in the Nursing faculty, standing committee, task force, and other meetings.

  • Participate in Faculty Senate and ad hoc committees.

  • Participate in community and professional activities as appropriate.

  • Participate in scholarly projects as appropriate.

  • Collaborate effectively with other faculty and staff members within Nursing and throughout the University and community to develop inter-professional academic, clinical, and research opportunities.

  • Advance Coker's educational mission and core values through the undergraduate nursing programs and serve as an advocate for learners at all levels.

  • Engage in clinical scholarship.
