Advanced Practice Nurse - Psych Services
Job Function Provides competent, holistic, effective advanced practice nursing care to consumers of behavioral health care at this agency according to standards set forth in statement on Psychiatric Mental health Clinical Nursing Practice.
Population served will be adult consumers with mental illness and substance abuse (MICA). Functions as an independent nurse clinician and maintains competency to perform psychiatric evaluations, psychiatric pharmacological and psychological interventions, consultation to other health care
providers and evaluation of outcome. Maintains collaborative practice with physician for prescriptive practice.
Education Required Certified advanced practice nurse in the state of New Jersey and ANCC certification with a minimum of a master's degree in psychiatric/mental health nursing.
New Jersey license required.
Reports To Director of Nursing Services and Psychiatric Services
Experience At least five years of experience in psychiatric mental health. Completion of all clinical rotations.
Hours/Schedule 35 Hours per week
1.Performs comprehensive psychiatric evaluations. Orders labs and performs specialized procedures in accordance with standards of practice and collaborative practice agreement with physician.
2.Completes treatment plans within time-frames allowed per Policy.
3.Completes progress notes within 24 hours of service delivery.

VIEW JOBS 12/8/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-08T00:00 Overview MEDICAL NURSE PRACTITIONER Part Time position working 3 hours on Saturday In collaboration with the physician, this position is responsible for diagnosing, treating and providing medical services to inmates of the Department of Corrections consistent with community standards of care. Responsibilities * Performs and documents patient evaluation, including taking the patient's history and conducting a physical examination. * Orders and interprets diagnostic tests. * Writes orders for medical medications and treatments, under guidelines of licensure.. * May perform invasive procedures as necessary. * Prescribes and monitors patient medications. * Dictates discharge summaries and transfer orders. * Maintains and follows patient care protocols. * Works with members of the healthcare team in educating the patients of their medical care. * Provides any necessary "on call" coverage. * Continually updates clinical knowledge and skills through consultation, formal and informal education and review of literature for the benefit of themselves as well as for the healthcare team. * All other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Must possess a Master's Degree and must have current and Advanced Practice Nurse license for the state in which he/she will provide services. * Must have at least one year experience of providing direct patient care. * Must have prescriptive authority with current and valid DEA and CDS. * Previous experience in a correctional setting preferred.
