Psychiatric Nurse 3

The Position

Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.

Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

This position is located within the Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (NNAMHS) at Dini Townsend Hospital in Sparks, Nevada. The incumbent will provide education and leadership while supervising the daily activities, group presentations, and therapeutic interactions of front line Registered Nurse and Mental Health Technician staff to ensure a comprehensive treatment program for adults with severe mental illness in an inpatient setting; collaborate with community referral sources to ensure timely acceptance of patients for care; provide direct nursing care as needed; and perform first-line hospital administrative duties during after-hours periods and/or when senior administrative staff are not present.

This position may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
