Psychiatric Nurse 3

What you will be doing:

The Nurse 3 (Psych) Supervisor coordinates patient and unit activities through providing leadership to the nursing staff and working with the multidisciplinary team assigned to Taku unit for assurance that the unit treatment program, treatment planning and required interventions are developed, implemented, and maintained to maintain The Joint Commission (JC) and Certified Medicaid Services (CMS) certification providing safe quality care.

The Nurse 3 (Psych) Supervisor provides regular supervision to/ reviews performance of Registered Nurses (RN), Psychiatric Nursing Assistants (PNA), Office Assistants (OA) to staff on the Denali Unit through documentation, direct observation, feedback from staff members, patients, families, and members of the multidisciplinary team.

Offering a $10,000 sign on bonus, to be paid in two equal installments of $5,000, minus mandatory deductions. The first installment will be paid upon successful completion of Nurse orientation. The second installment will be paid upon successful completion of probation (one year). To receive an incentive employees shall agree to a two (2) year term of employment with the Department at the time of hire.

Minimum Qualifications

Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.

AND

Two years of professional experience as a Registered Nurse, one of which must have been as a full performance/journey level Psychiatric or Corrections Nurse. This latter experience may be met by prior service as a Psychiatric Nurse 2 or Corrections Nurse 2 with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another employer.

Substitution:

Combinations of prior training and experience in other specializations of nursing care (e.g., Med-Surg, Corrections, Public Health, Critical Care) will be evaluated for comparability on a case-by-case basis.

Special Note:

Candidates not currently licensed by the State of Alaska, who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska and requisite qualifying experience, may apply for vacancies in this job class. Applicants qualifying under this option may receive a conditional job offer; however, proof of licensure will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.

Some positions may require the successful applicant to pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, as a prerequisite to employment. These requirements will be indicated at the time of recruitment.

Some positions may require the successful applicant to provide proof they are free from active pulmonary tuberculosis at the time of hire. Employees are required to be tested annually. These requirements will be indicated at the time of recruitment.

  • Copies of all performance evaluations that have been received for the last two (2) years, if available.
