Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is recruiting for 2 Psychiatric Nurse positions. One vacancy is located at our Desert Regional Center (DRC) in Las Vegas and the other position is at Rural Regional Center (RRC) in Carson City. This is a very rewarding and specialized field of nursing working with individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and Developmental Disability.
Psychiatric Nurses (PN) provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The DRC PN II participates in the overall quality assurance and performance improvement activities for the Community Services, as well as the ICF/IID programs. This includes participation in the quality oversight of contracted community providers, conducting and participating in the environmental reviews of supported living arrangements, the ICF/IID, and Jobs and Day Training Sites, conducting investigations of allegations of abuse, neglect and exploitation, complete thorough and comprehensive health care assessments and develop detailed report of findings including recommendations for health care supports.

The RRC PN II is a Nevada licensed RN who conducts nursing assessments of persons with intellectual and other developmental disabilities; consults with persons served, their families, and contracted provider and State professional staff regarding person served health issues; performs basic nursing duties including but not limited to: taking blood pressure, temperature, head circumference, height and weight, and other biometric measurements; provides health and safety related educational presentations to agency and contracted provider staff and persons served; assists with nursing related policy updates and participates in statewide nursing work groups as needed. Overnight and multiple day travel to outlying areas is occasionally required.

A Bachelor's degree from an approved school of professional nursing, pursuant to NRS 632, is equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
