The Position

Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings.

The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for a Psychiatric Caseworker 2 (PCW) located in Las Vegas, Nevada for the Intensive In-Home Clinical Team Program (IIHCT). IICHT provides intensive home and community based clinical services to youth ages birth through 18 with complex behavioral needs who are returning to their homes following out of home treatment at imminent risk for out of home placement, and their families. In-home teams assist in building a solid foundation for youth and their families through engagement during out of home placement in support of creating and implementing a plan for services post discharge.

Teams partner with youth and family multiple times per week, providing services in-home, schools, the community, and in other settings as needed to support stability. This could include individual and family therapy; psychosocial rehabilitative services such as communication skills, crisis management, relationship building and self-regulations skills to remain and thrive in the home; care coordination. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

The PCW is a member of the two-person Intensive In-Home Clinical Team and provides support to youth and families as the lead provider of psychosocial rehabilitation services. This position works directly with youth and families to build and strengthen relationships; build communication skills; contributes to the development and implementation of safety and soothing plans; is a member of the child and family team; provides input into the treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation plan; provides care coordination; crisis stabilization interventions as indicated during the course of treatment.
