Psych Care Unit Counselor

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Administrator, this individual completes assessments/treatment planning, provides therapies and conducts case management/discharge planning for behavioral health patients

Frye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina is a 355-bed acute care hospital, 81-bed Behavioral Health facility and more than 70 primary and specialty care providers.

Essential Functions

• Completes Psychosocial Assessments within 72 hours of admission.

• Responsible for completing and updating the BH Master Treatment Plan.

• Conducts group, individual and family therapies.

• Responsible for case management/discharge planning.

• Assesses patient's progress and documents appropriately.

• Collaborates with team to include but not limited to psychiatrists, nurses, mental health technicians, recreation therapists, utilization management, administration and outside agencies.

Minimum Education

Masters Degree in a mental health field from an accredited institution preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

• Current NC License as an LCSW, LCMHC, LPA or LMFT preferred

• Current NC License as an LCAS preferred.

• Handle with Care Certification required with 6 months of hire or transfer into the position.

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
