The Department of Psychology at the University of Virginia is seeking to hire a Research Coordinator to assist with data management and analysis for a new study examining associations between brain development and anxiety symptoms during childhood and adolescence. The Research Coordinator will work under close supervision of Dr. Stefanie Sequeira, Department of Psychology and Dr. Aiying Zhang, School of Data Science.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Download neuroimaging data from the ABCD dataset via the NDA portal to local storage platforms and managing the data in BIDS format.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with Research Computing for data management services, assisting researchers in selecting and integrating appropriate storage solutions.

  • Collaborate closely with researchers at the School of Data Science to develop the data preprocessing pipeline, supervise data processing activities, and conduct quality control on neuroimaging data.

Qualified candidates must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Engineering, or Quantitative Psychology/Neuroscience.

  • Demonstrable experience in script writing and coding with Python or R.

  • Strong organizational skills for coordinating project milestones.

  • Adaptability to work with diverse researchers across different disciplines and excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with neuroimaging data, especially MRI.

  • Proficiency in cloud storage and data transfer tools, such as Globus.

  • Experience handling highly sensitive data with an understanding of regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Advanced degree or professional credential in data or project management

Possible renewal after one year, contingent upon performance and funding availability.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

This position is located in Charlottesville, VA.

This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. Salary is contingent with education and experience. This is a non-exempt level, benefited position.
