William Paterson University invites applications for the full-time 10-month position of Assistant Athletic Trainer.

Under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer and reporting to the Director of Athletics and Recreation, this position assists with the oversight of the health and welfare of a diverse body of student-athletes who participate in the intercollegiate athletic program.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1.Assists with implementation of care, injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

2.Provides coverage of athletic practices and contests.

3.Communicates with student athletes, coaching staff, and healthcare providers about injuries and treatment protocol.

4.Maintains necessary documentation of records including but not limited to: injury reports, daily rehab logs, and injury evaluations.

5.Assists with the daily operation of athletic training facilities.

6.Assists with the oversight of the pre-participation medical clearance process.

7.Develops and maintains working relationships with athletics administration, coaching staff and student athletes as it relates to care of student athletes.

8.Oversees the athletic training supply inventory and assists with re-ordering supplies. Assists with the maintenance of athletic training equipment.

9.Assists in the supervision of the athletic training students, and serves as a Preceptor for the clinical requirements of the academic program.

10. Attends meetings and workshops as required.

11. Complies with all NCAA, NJAC, HIPPA and OSHA regulations, policies and procedures.

12. Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate for the position.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in a field related to the position required, Master's degree preferred.

• BOC certification and current New Jersey State licensure.

• Current certification in CPR/AED/First Aid.

• Two years of athletic training experience; athletic training experience at the collegiate level and experience with football preferred.

Competencies/Skills Required

• Strong management and organizational skills.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software. Familiarity with medical records technology preferred.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Experience supervising athletic training students preferred.

• Valid driver's license and the ability to work night, weekends and holidays as required.
