Job Purpose:

Promote continuous improvement through Pipeline Safety incident / issue data collection, evaluation, and corrective action implementation across all Gas business operations.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate daily pipeline safety incident and issue reporting into National Grid's Gas Business Continuous Improvement Program (CIP), interfacing with key parts of the business to promote reporting.

  • Participate in CIP Operations team daily review of categorization, evaluation, assessment of risk, and assignment of corrective action owners.

  • Track and report on quality, cause evaluation status, program participation, and closure of corrective actions.

  • Interact with Risk and Assurance Team to share information that can be used to identify root causes and promote effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Provide ad hoc reports on CIP information, upon request.

  • Support overall CIP team, as required.

  • Support the development of key information to the Management Review and Continuous Improvement cycle, supporting performance reporting (review of Key Performance Indicators), Risk Register items, progress against PSM Goals and Objectives, and progress of strategic initiatives and other improvement actions taken to enhance the PSM system.

Knowledge and Capabilities:

  • Strong IT skills, with knowledge of data systems for collection, tracking, and reporting on business performance.

  • Experienced in application of Root Cause Analysis tools (especially TapRooT).

  • Understanding of how a management system approach can drive continuous improvement.

  • Awareness of Safety Management Systems and application to business operations (e.g., API RP 1173, OSHA Process Safety Management, EPA Risk Management Program, OHSAS 18001).

  • Awareness of Process Excellence methodology, with demonstrated ability to identify end-to-end process improvements.

  • A successful record in implementing significant change and delivering against key business objectives, using a customer-focused delivery model.

  • Demonstrates understanding of the Process Safety Management risks impacting the energy industry sector.

  • Effective communicator and presenter.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in gas field operations and/or engineering.

Job Dimensions:

  • Job can be located in any NY office location.

  • Job is part of team comprised of six (6) total analysts; analysts will be assigned to support specific Gas Operations regions (UNY, DNY, NE).

VIEW JOBS 10/2/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-12-31T00:00 Job Purpose: Performcompliance and quality assurance and pipeline safety management assessments of companyand contractor personnel to ensure construction and maintenance activities areperformed in accordance with all applicable Federal and State coderequirements, work methods, policies and procedures. Ensure field personnel are operatorqualified (OQ), as well as, can demonstrate job knowledge and competencies of thework task being performed. Key Accountabilities: * Through field observations, compliance assessments, and quality assessments, collect, sort, and examine data in order to support the safe and reliable delivery of gas service to customers. * Identify deficiencies and overall pipeline safety performance trends or patterns which may adversely impact the quality and safety of operations. * Provide recommendations and assist in implementation of corrective actions in order to improve the quality and safety of gas operations performance. * Provide "on-the-job-training" and mentoring of crew personnel as needed. * Participate on Incident Analysis teams (IA's) to determine root cause and identify sustainable corrective actions. * Provide routine performance updates at Safety Briefs to help field operations personnel increase focus on areas of pipeline safety management. * Research and review gas procedures and regulatory requirements to determine scenarios that might impact the company. * Review historical records and metrics so as to identify risk or trends of non-compliance. Knowledge& Experience Requirements for Band F: Band F employees are expected to havethe knowledge and experience listed below. * Bachelor'sdegree, preferably in an engineering discipline (or a related technicaldiscipline) is desired or 1 years of related work experience. * Strongknowledge of work and safety rules, work methods, standard operating proceduresand regulations is required. * Excellentoral and written communication skills are a must, as are excellent observationand documentation abilities and a high degree of personal integrity. * Self-motivated,confident, efficient, decisive and committed to a strong and consistent qualityassurance program. * Workingknowledge of personal computer applications (Word, Excel, Access, andPowerPoint) is desired. * Proficientin Company data information systems (CRIS, MAXIMO, STORMS, MWORK, and GIS) isdesired. * Cross-regionaltravel for the performance of departmental duties is required and willencompass a minimum of 25% of the Specialist's annual duties. Knowledge& Experience Requirements for Band E: In addition to Band F requirementslisted above, Band E employees are expected to have the knowledge andexperience listed below: * Bachelor's degree, preferably in an engineering discipline (or a related technical discipline) is desired or 3 years of related work experience. * Expert within their field. Extensive and significant knowledge of one field of work or broad technical depth in multiple related fields sufficient to lead programs or projects. * Knowledge of relevant Industry practice and regulations. * Knowledge of developments in regulation. * Specialized quality-related certification in Tap Root methodologies for project analysis and incident investigation analysis is recognized. * Demonstrated ability to meet time date driven mandates * Familiar with Company Operator Qualification program Knowledge& Experience Requirements for Band D: In addition to Band E/F requirementslisted above, Band D employees are expected to have the knowledge andexperience listed below: * Bachelor's degree, preferably in an engineering discipline (or a related technical discipline) is desired or 5 years of related work experience. * Demonstrated leadership capability to work independently to achieve pipeline safety management goals and objectives CapabilityRequirements of Band F: * Identifies basic relationships between sources of data such as cause and effect or if-then relationships. * Uses direct persuasion to influence others using data, logic or a solid business case. * Takes personal responsibility for correcting problems promptly. * Reviews work for accuracy and assure that all details are complete.
