This position reports to the Payroll Manager and will supervise Payroll and Employee Services staff and operations with special focus on ensuring compliance of corporate, local, state, and federal regulations. Provide oversight for the administration of corporate credit card purchasing program and travel and expense reporting, policy and procedures.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to the following):

Responsible for the maintenance of organization and employee master data for PSEG Long Island operations in support of approximately 2500 active employees in two states (primarily New York). Work and support SAP development team to develop business requirements and perform testing of system modifications. Support and oversee implementation of varied HR and Corporate Policy and Procedures.

Responsible for meeting day to day deliverables including all internal and external audit requirements. Assist and support Payroll Manager with strategic/tactical process improvements providing ongoing trend analysis and process improvement recommendations.

Supervise daily operation of Payroll and Employee Services staff by orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.

Support operations by maintaining, monitoring and analyzing master data, key data, and master relationship data within the organization.

Oversee and maintain all organization structure changes and ensure data accuracy and integrity such as: positions, organization units and organization management attributes as they relate to system security, finance and HR organizational structures.

Support Payroll Manager in ownership of SOX controls audit, including master data audit compliance. Lead and support audit requirements and remediation actions set forth by internal and external clients

Assist with project implementations. Assist with system analysis, test and implementation of systems HR enhancements. Ensure compliance, efficiency and effectiveness of the overall delivery systems, develops procedure for quality assurance and statistical analysis.

Keep abreast of Payroll/HR industry trends in order to provide input to leverage these trends to improve payroll and HR transactional processes. Track trends and developments in assigned functional areas.

Assist with fiscal and calendar year-end processing of payroll, including supplemental payrolls, W-2 and other tax forms, and other government required documentation.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related degree.

  • Minimum 4 years of Payroll/Human Resources experience.

  • Including a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in Payroll/HR environment

  • Proficient with HR/Payroll systems and HR/Payroll policies and procedures

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to multi-task and consistently meet critical deadlines

  • Strong Analytical and problem solving skills

  • Demonstrate judgment and decision making capabilities.

  • Strong interpersonal, customer service and communication skills.

  • Solid project management skills and ability to lead and assist in multiple projects

  • Understanding of employee self-service and similar technology/environment

  • Must demonstrate and value differences in others strengths, perspectives, approach and personal choices

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, MS-Excel macros, statistical tools

This position requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, applicants must possess a valid driver's license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills

  • Advanced professional certification such as CPP, PMP, PHR, or SPHR

  • Advanced knowledge of HRIS software, familiarity with Success Factors

  • Understanding of employee self-service and similar technology/environment in SAP/Success Factor

  • Experience supervising or working with Union workforce
